The Effects
Gaza was experiencing severe food insecurity from 22 August 2025, until 19 December 2025. This resulted in an estimated 10,000+ deaths throughout the Gaza Strip. Limited entry of food supplies, combined with damage to local agriculture, markets, and infrastructure, led to widespread shortages of basic food items. Many faced difficulty obtaining sufficient nutrition, with aid organisations reporting increasing levels of acute hunger among the civilian population.

The earthquake caused the deaths of over 2200 people, the collapse and severe damage of residential buildings. Transport routes were disrupted due to damaged infrastructure and the challenging terrain of the region, making access more difficult. In remote areas, limited access to emergency services slowed response efforts, increasing reliance on humanitarian aid due to reduced local capacity and accessibility challenges.

In September 2025, Sudan faced severe famine conditions driven by ongoing conflict and disruption of food supply chains. Approximately 21.2 million people were experiencing acute food insecurity, with around 6.3 million in Emergency (IPC Phase 4) and about 375,000 in Catastrophe (IPC Phase 5) conditions. Access to food, markets, and humanitarian aid was heavily restricted, leading to extreme levels of hunger and widespread malnutrition.

In alignment with our team values and mission, we swiftly organised a bake sale selling halal-certified cookies and refreshments in school hours. Proceeds of 90 USD (approx. 400 MYR) were donated to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), who was wokring on disaster relief operations in those areas. This initiative demonstrated our ability to mobilise small-scale local events into measurable international social effects.
Our donation aided The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to deliver large-scale humanitarian assistance across Sudan, Gaza, and Afghanistan by supporting essential services and distributing aid to affected populations.
In Sudan, they reached over 1,105,000 people with food, water, medical care, and cash assistance in conflict-affected areas.
In Palestine, they provided support to over 163,000 vulnerable individuals (around 32,700 households) with basic assistance, helped improve access to bread for over 146,000 people, and delivered food assistance to over 324,000 individuals.
In Afghanistan, the ICRC supported healthcare and relief efforts, including providing primary healthcare services to over 1,268,000 patients, alongside rehabilitation services, clean water access, and emergency support to communities.
